  • Managed a department of 18 History Teacher.  Attained the highest passing rate of U.S. History in the last 10 years where most of the students were in the bottom 25%. 

  • Implemented the Multitier Systems of Support (MTSS) for the entire school – Facilitated meetings with Tier 2 and Tier 3 students and teachers to identify learning targets and goals across subject areas and grade levels. (MTSS in Mississippi is the same as RTI in Alabama)

  • Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) – Developed alternatives to suspensions (e.g. students were given the opportunity to serve in leadership roles within the school), developed a plan to ensure teachers implemented positive and effective ways to discipline and reward students and created an incentives calendar in which the school rewarded students with good behavior.

  • Program Director for After-school Tutoring Program (All Subject Areas) – 
        Ensured that after school teachers planned and taught lessons that were based on     standards in which students were identified to have a deficiency.  Ensured that the     instruction meet the needs of each student (differentiation).

  • Director of Saturday and In-School Bootcamps – Conducted Bootcamps for all subject areas that included intense instruction 2-weeks prior to state testing.  Students were identified based on data pulled from benchmark assessments.  

  • Attendance Administrator – Responsible for effectively addressing the issue of chronic absenteeism in our school.  Compiled and analyzed attendance data for all grades.  Met with counselors, students and parents, and outside entities when necessary, to best address the absentee issues. Re-established an Attendance Team comprised of about 10 staff members that intervened when students showed signs of chronic absenteeism.

  • Conducted the following Professional Development for the District and for the State:
        -Strategies to address Diverse Learners within the Classroom 
        -Building Authentic Relationships between Teachers and Students
        -Classroom Management Tips for New Teachers
        -Proper Lesson Planning for New Teachers

  • Participated in Cross-curricular Professional with English and U.S. History Teachers

  • Student and Teacher Mentor for Males in the school

  • Member of District Interview Team

  • Member of Leadership 52 (Meridian Public School’s Leadership Team)

  • Member of the State’s Testing Team

  • Member of Graduation Team – Ensured that Seniors met the academic requirements for graduation

  • Assisted the Testing Coordinator with discipline and management during state assessments

  • Principal Intern – Ninth Grade Academy – Managed the day-to-day operations of the program.  Ensured that there was robust instruction from bell-to-bell each day.  Ensured that discipline was minimal each day.

  • Taught Doctoral Class in the professor’s absence
